Inspiring Women: Rural Africa

Sometimes I look at pictures of my time in Africa and wonder if it was a dream. I think about taking a boat to a remote island in the Volta river and staying with the most hospitable, loving people one could ever hope to meet. Most of all, I think of the women. I think of the inspiring women who carry their children on their back while washing clothes, making dinner, getting water, shelling mussels, nurturing children, or feeding animals. I think about their strength, their joyful faces. I think about the sisterhood they share.

I think about how privileged I am to know a few of the beautiful women in rural Africa.
